Computer Advancement Paves Way for Good Education

You see them everywhere. Nearly every person possesses some form of mobile Internet. Cell phones are not the only PC upgrade. Tablet PCs are now the latest in computer advancement. These handy portable gadgets are equipped with Internet, Flash, speakers and more. Just having the Internet on a tablet PC makes it easier for people to be in class no matter where they are.

Most online classes are accessible from a tablet PC. Technology has made it easier to get people where they need to be. There is almost no excuse to say you could not attend class. Wi-Fi signals are abundant in nearly all cities and towns. As long as your tablet PC has wireless Internet capabilities, you have a connection to class!

Tablets have another advantage. Since they were introduced to the cell phone market, they are part of cellular networks. This can allow students the opportunity to join video conferences for class from their phones.

Some schools have tailored their online programs so efficiently that students can access their classroom through their cell phones. Online universities often have special software, called apps, to make school more convenient. You can download the apps onto your cell phone and input your school user ID and password to access your class.

Nothing can stop you from receiving your deserved education. Even if you do not have a portable computer, or smartphone, you can still go to school online. Having a steady Internet connection and a good computer will also get you to your classes.

The Competition Between Apple and Android

it's real :)

Image via Wikipedia

There are several competitors in the mobile technology field, but Apple and Android are the clear leaders of the pack. They both have comprehensive app markets and high cell phone sales. There are some differences, however, that might eventually make one do better than the other.

Apple

One reason why Apple has done so well in the cell phone industry is because of their iPod. For a long time, the iPod was the best device for listening to music. Apple combined the concept of their iPod with a cell phone to create the iPhone. To date, the iPhone is still the best smartphone for listening to music.

Apple’s app market is another reason why they are able to compete so well. Every one of their apps is tested before it is released to the market, making them have one of the most secure platforms for users.

Android

Android may have entered the competition late, but they are now strong competition. Their app market is growing at a phenomenal rate, and you can find pretty much any app on Android that you can find on Apple.

One reason why Android is so popular is because they have a huge selection of phones. This is because their operating system is open-source, making it easier for developers to launch new phones. For instance, you can buy an LG Android phone, an HTC Android phone, and more. This is a huge advantage for Android because they may beat out Apple based on their large selection of phones.

The competition between Android and Apple is still raging, and it will be interesting to see which competitor comes out on top. Will it be a battle between app markets, phone options, or something else?

Apple Versus Android Affects Us All

The advent of the smartphone goes past the usual hyperbole involving new inventions. The device has the potential to alter nearly every aspect of human life. The technology has already replaced mainstays such as voice recorders and alarm clocks. In the future, smartphone might even replace wallets –complete with picture of kids.

The biggest question the future of the smartphone faces might be, which operating system will the majority of people use? The smartphone market in the United States is currently dominated by Apple and Android. Google owns and operates the Android, which has been the more flexible of the two systems.

Android phones are made by several companies, which Apple has keep its operating system only on its in house products. There are advantages to both methods. It is easier for developers to test applications on Apple products, while the abundance of the Android has allowed it to rapidly catch-up with Apple.

Which system will dominate the highly rigid Apple or the more open Android? Apple recently announced that it would collect 30 percent of fees from applications that require subscriptions. This move angered developers, and it displayed the type of power that smartphone operates hold. Losing out on Apple customer’s business is worst that putting up with Apple’s heavy demands.

Smartphones are a vital part of the economy and people’s personal lives. As reliance on smartphones grows the importance of a company’s philosophy grows. Even though Apple might be an innovator, its rigid practices might turn against it.

In the fight for the smartphone market, customer service and perception will matter. In the fight to be the dominant operating system the winner will affect the lives of virtually everyone.

The History of Unix

The History of Unix

Back during the latter half of the 1960s, before personal computers even really existed, there was a company called Bell Telephone Laboratories that was working with GE as well as MIT’s Project MAC in order to write a computer operating system that was known as Multics and intended for use in mainframe computers. At some point Bell Labs decided to withdraw from the project, and then in April 1969 a group of men got together to sketch out an OS (operating system) that would actually meet the needs for the Bell Labs people.

Much development followed, thanks to Dennis Ritchie, Brian Kernighan and Ken Thompson who created the first system, which would be called Unics, and then eventually would be called UNIX, which was a play on Multics. Later on, the C programming language was invented by Dennis and Brian, and this was a major boon for portable and reusable code that would be capable of being used on any computer platform, and by 1973, the UNIX operating system was rewritten as Version 4 completely in C.

An article about UNIX was published by Ritchie and Thompson in a technical journal, and several different universities reached out to Bell Labs because they were interested in UNIX. They had to sign a non disclosure contract, but then this allowed them to get tapes and manuals about UNIX for educational purposes online. Many universities decided to use UNIX in their curriculum, and so it spread like wildlife while computer science students developed and experimented with it. From this, BSD was born as Berkeley Software Distribution, and MIT also joined in and participated in the development of the software, helping UNIX to become what it is today.

Software Engineers will be in High Demand

If you’re looking for a career that will grow with the times, one that will give you job security, and one that is high paying, a Software Engineer could be a good option.

What can you expect?

1.    Software Engineers are expected to be in high demand as the field is projected to grow dramatically through the year 2020 and beyond.

2.    Computer programmer jobs are expected to decline through 2018 meaning software engineers will likely be in high demand.

3.    By getting a bachelor’s degree or higher, software engineer jobs will likely be readily available as you progress through your career.

If you’re a person that likes to spend time working on computers, analyzing how to improve things and have a high ability to learn math and science, the software engineering field might be for you. Software engineers develop and test the software applications that make your computers work.

For those interested in the gaming world, there are many good software engineering jobs in the gaming field. As the gaming world continues to explode with new products, that particular regime within the software field will also continue to grow.

Before you make any plans of being a software engineer, understand that a four-year degree in college will require a host of math and science classes. Most programs require that a student take multiple match classes beyond the calculus series in order to receive their degrees. Physics and chemistry are also required before you can even get into your field of choice.

The average software engineer makes close to $90 thousand dollars per year, with some that specialize making slightly more than that.

A strong background in computer programming is expected and most hiring executives will look for programming as a background along with systems analysis and of course great interpersonal skills.

Advanced Learning for Kids With Computer Software

You’re kids deserve every learning advantage they can get when it comes to finding the best method for them to learn. Not everyone does well with a teacher standing in front of the room giving a lecture. Some do so much better learning in an environment that meets their needs and keeps them interested.

It’s important to keep tabs on your kids during the early years of their learning experience to make sure they aren’t falling behind. If they do fall behind, there are some computer software options out there that could be just the tool you are looking for.

If you have a little girl that loves dolls and dressing up, Disney Princess – Cinderella Castle might be just the tool you are looking for. While learning within this environment, your child will be building a castle, decorating their own royal bedroom and designing other rooms, all in an environment where they are learning.

Another great computer software out there for children that are a bit more advanced is JumpStart 5th Grade and JumpStart 6th Grade. The game takes your child on an adventure or field trip while they are skateboarding, skiing or mountain biking. While they are doing these extreme activities, they are learning about history, math, science and spelling.

There are learning games out there that meet the needs of just about every child. As unique as your child is, there is something in the computer software that will tweak their interest in learning and help them get a jump on the never-ending process that is learning.

If your child seems to be struggling or falling behind make sure you visit with their teacher about what areas they need improvement. Most teachers can offer some recommendations of good computer software games but you can also find just about anything on the internet.

Happy Learning!

Probably the most dramatic recent innovation has been Cloud computing. It liberates users by enabling data to be accessed, amended improved on and updated from any location. Latest items -“ especially those subject to periodic changes from calendars to files, reports and financial accounts- can be viewed and worked on by those with authorized access. What this obviates is the necessity of communicating directly with individuals and asking them to sending the data from their own station. Savings are made on time, energy, server space and memory. Additionally, you avoid the problem of single users each having a variety of versions of software and incompatible operating systems – e.g. one on a Mac, another functioning with Windows 7, still another using Vista, etc. Its self-service architecture takes users into a domain where they are largely liberated from software issues. Private individuals initiated into the Cloud at work are increasingly taking the technology home for personal use. With none of the irritating old variables causing headaches, there can be no descent from the Cloud. Future computing aspirations can only get loftier.
Second in the running to the Cloud for most Dramatic Innovation title is the all-purpose single inbox. One of the most promising failed shortly after its inception – the ill-fated Google Wave. Fulfilling the definition of a wave as a live, real-time venue for people to interact, its goal was to provide the user with a one-stop inbox. It combined IM, chat, video-conferencing, email, social networking and phone communication, as well as the boon of document integration a la Google Docs. It faltered in August 2010 due to an inability to forge all the necessary relationships and links with other media and their deliverers, although it intends to rise again from the ashes, if- tantalizingly – in another form.
Is there an imminent prospect of a universal inbox, then? Many have been underwhelmed by the various incarnations that have come out, often citing cumbersome interfaces or distrust of the inevitable third-party involvement. One to consider, though, seems to be Otherinbox, which has attracted a respectable flow of customers.

Forging Links for a Freer Computing Community

An end to the battle that has long raged between open source enthusiasts and those who lend their support to the proprietary “branded” applications may be in sight. Cloud computing, far from clouding the issue, has helped to clear the mist, much of it red, given the fiery views often expressed by opponents of one system or the other. The idea that proprietary desktops and associated software can live harmoniously alongside their open source cousins is something that one-time opponents of the corporations behind mainstream computing have begun to realize. New on the scene since 2008 has been the Operating System called Jolicloud. It doesn”t distinguish between software that is open source and that which is proprietary and is, above all, easy to install. Fans report finding Jolicloud a much faster OS than Windows 7. It’s a client OS that caters especially to web services and categorizes applications according to how they are used, whether they are open source or proprietary. The prospect of this type of happy alliance has been around for some time. Forging the link since 1993 has been Wine, its very raison being the running of Windows applications on Linux. It has imperfections and won’t run everything, but Wine has turned out to be a popular solution. Like Jolicloud, an important part of the concept is the fact that it is free. Likewise Software, also free of charge, performs a similar role for Mac users.
Also recommended for the IT-uninitiated is Samba – ideal if all you need is to share files and printers. The main point here is that where the server that one is using is Linux or Unix, with Samba software a PC with a Windows desktop can still carry out printing and file sharing.
Also on the plus side, security is aided by a switch over to teaming Linux and Windows together on one’s computer, since Linux is known to offer far better security. You also, of course, have more applications at your fingertips.
In today’ user-driven world, this type of integration is inevitable and, of course, ultimately beneficial.

Any business that uses computers as part of its everyday duties must assess its hardware needs periodically. This is especially true of online casino games websites and businesses. Some online casino casino games businesses cannot afford specialist IT workers, but they should have an understanding of what is available. IT departments in business usually make recommendations based on a number of criteria specific to online casino games businesses. These include the number of workers, the size of files being stored and whether files will be downloaded and what processes are ran.

Once the online casino games business decides to purchase computers and peripherals to improve the gaming experience there are questions that must first be asked. Hardware providers should be able to answer the questions being posed by potential buyers. Questions generally include what type of support to expect and what is the type of hardware is better suited for what they want to do. Additionally sellers should be able to:

1. Offer competitive prices
– Provide technical support
2. Offer suggestions based on the needs of the buyer

3. Computer Hardware for Specific Functions

These days, most computers are capable of performing all the same basic functions. The basic differences lie in storage capabilities and processing speed. Developers of online casino games and software will have different hardware requirements from a call center for example. It should be understood as well, that some types of software have specific hardware requirements.
Buyers can learn from the get-go which software solutions are compatible with their hardware needs. Assistance to determine this can be had from a IT professional or in some cases from hardware and retailer suppliers.

It is often recommended that online casino games businesses create a hardware plan before exploring available options. While this makes sense, there are still may people who are not familiar with the fundamentals of computers and peripheral devices. This is why it is essential that hardware providers be capable of offering the right information for businesses exploring their hardware options.
